I have previously washed this on Ubuntu and Mandriva.
This volition work and you volition be able to mount your existing /home partition even if information technology is encrypted as long equally you know the passphrase.
Thing to keep in heed is to fix the mount points correctly and don't accidentally format your /abode partition.

Actually yous don't need to know the passphrase, merely the password that will exist asked when you first login later on the installation.
